Tough time won’t last.
Tough people do.
Diversity Completes.
Born in Changchun, China, Vecto Sun’s journey began on ice rinks and piano benches. A former provincial-level figure skater and classically trained musician, his early life cultivated discipline and artistry. Though initially pursuing his father’s musical legacy, he later charted an unconventional path: excelling in civil engineering at Tongji University, serving as an Air Force soldier for 2 years afterwards (honored as a Four Merits Outstanding Soldier), before embracing industrial design. This multifaceted background fuels his designs with precision, emotional resonance, and soldier’s pragmatism.
Academic & Creative Synthesis
Vecto’s design philosophy crystallized during his internship at HOTO Tools. His winning concept for HOTO’s flagship adjustable electric screwdriver proved his ability to bridge innovation and manufacturability.
Currently ranking #1 in industrial design at Tongji for three consecutive semesters, he transforms academic rigor into functional solutions, holding multiple patents while balancing roles as FabLab Shanghai’s student lead and Shanghai International Design Week speaker.
Design as human connection
“Leap before you look” drives Vecto’s creative risks.
Whether crafting custom furniture for friends or optimizing production workflows, he measures success by user delight.
This ethos extends beyond products: his basketball team leadership, snowboarding stunts, and gaming mastery (top 15% in any pursuit he undertakes) reveal a designer who thrives where strategy meets spontaneity.
Horizons in the Making
Vecto aims to become a “Renaissance designer”—equally adept at engineering, aesthetics, and entrepreneurship.
His vision? Designs that make users proud to participate in the story of objects. With partner (a fellow design student) by his side, he’s engineering not just products, but experiences that resonate.
